Maureen is a full-time neutral with extensive experience as a trial lawyer and as in-house corporate counsel. She served as both defense and plaintiff’s counsel in a trial career that included catastrophic personal injury liability, wrongful death, sexual assault, premises liability, trucking and motor vehicle accidents, products liability, employment law, and contractual disputes. As General Counsel with the largest privately held hotel company in North America, she gained insights into commercial, governance, insurance, employment, and liability matters.
Maureen’s success, experience, and professionalism resulted in her induction into the prestigious American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), an invitation-only organization comprised of an equal number of plaintiff and defense trial lawyers which emphasizes skill, ethics, and professionalism in the trial of civil cases. In addition, her prior firm Knopik Deskins Law Group, was recognized as among the “Best Law Firms in America” and in 2013 was the recipient of the U.S. Trade and Commerce Institute’s Florida Excellence Award. Maureen held leadership positions in the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys, is rated "AV" by Martindale-Hubbell, and is a Florida Supreme Court Circuit Civil Mediator.
As a trial lawyer and as in-house corporate counsel Maureen gained valuable insights into the origin and costs of disputes, the complexity of decision-making realities, and the benefits of collaboration to solve problems. As a mediator, she dedicates herself to working hard for those who entrust their case to her to help the parties find resolution on their terms, especially when that resolution may seem elusive.
